Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 5 Tbsp
  • milk - 1 c
  • salt - 1 Tbsp
  • melted shortening - 6 Tbsp
  • yeast - 1 pkg
  • lukewarm water - 1 c
  • sifted flour sift flour before measuring - 6 c

How to make yeast rolls:

Scald milk. Add sugar and salt. Dissolve yeast in well. Add melted shortening and remaining flour, using only enough flour to make dough handle well. Knead until smooth. Place in a greased bowl; set in warm place to rise until double in bulk. Make into rolls. This can also be refrigerated and made into rolls the next day.
