How to make yeast rolls:
Put yeast in lukewarm water to soften. Scald milk and add sugar, salt and shortening. Let cool to lukewarm. Add 2 cups flour and mix thoroughly. Add egg(s) and softened yeast. Beat well. Add enough more flour to make a soft dough. Turn out on lightly floured surface and knead until smooth. Place in a large greased bowl and turn once to grease all sides. Cover with Saran Wrap that has been lightly sprayed with cooking spray on 1 side. This will keep dough from sticking. Put in refrigerator overnight or at least several hours.Punch down and shape into rolls. Place in lightly greased baking pan. Let rise to double in bulk, about 1 hour. Bake in moderately hot oven at 375° for 15 to 18 minutes, until golden brown. Butter tops immediately.
