Ingredients/Components
- Great Northern beans - 1 lb
- water - 8 c
- salt pork - 1/2 lb
- onions, quartered - 3 item
- can chopped tomatoes - 16 oz
- sage - 1/4 tsp
- parsley - 1 tsp
- bouillon cubes - 2 item
- bay leaf - 1 item
- large garlic - 1 item
- oil - 3 Tbsp
- thyme - 1/2 tsp
How to make white beans:
Soak beans in water overnight. Keep 3 cups liquid. Add bouillon cubes. Rinse pork, dry and cut into 1-inch strips. Brown in oil until crispy. Add all other ingredients. Cover and simmer 2 to 2 1/2 hours, or until beans are tender. Good in crock-pot.Recipe categories: Side dish, Beans, European.
