Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- milk - 2/3 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- baking powder - 2 tsp
- shortening - 1/2 c
- large egg - 1 item
- all-purpose flour - 4 c
- raisins - 1 c
- margarine - 1/2 c
- ground nutmeg - 1/4 tsp
How to make welsh cakes:
Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, nutmeg and cinnamon. Add shortening and margarine, mix until like coarse meal. Add raisins. Beat eggs with milk, add to flour mixture to make a dough. Roll at 1/4-inch thick on floured board and cut with glass. Makes about 30 cakes. Cook at 350° on electric grill or on top of stove in thick skillet.Recipe categories: Eggs/dairy, Breads, Grains.
