Watermelon pickles
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 12 c
- vinegar - 4 c
- alum - 1 tsp
- stick cinnamon - 1 pkg
- whole cloves - 2 Tbsp
- watermelon rind white only - 1 item
How to make watermelon pickles:
Peel rind from melon. Cut off green outer rind and any pink flesh. Cut into bite-size pieces. Cover with water and add alum. Stir and bring to a boil. Simmer for 1 hour. Combine vinegar, sugar and spices and bring to a boil. Add the rind and bring to a boil again. Place in jars and seal.Recipe categories: Fruit, Appetizers, Melons.
