Vidalia onion casserole
Ingredients/Components
- large Vidalia onions - 6 item
- butter or margarine - 1/3 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- sugar - 1/2 tsp
- pepper - 1/2 tsp
- vermouth - 1/2 c
- Worcestershire sauce - 1 tsp
- shredded Swiss, Gruyere or Jarlsberg cheese - 1/2 1
- fine dry bread crumbs - 1/4 c
- paprika - 1 tsp
- butter or margarine, melted - 2 Tbsp
How to make vidalia onion casserole:
Preheat oven to 350°. Cut onions into 3/4-inch slices. In a 12-inch skillet, cook onions in butter or margarine until tender. Sprinkle with salt, sugar and pepper. Add vermouth and Worcestershire sauce. Cook 3 minutes. Transfer onion mixture to a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking dish. Sprinkle with cheese. Combine bread crumbs, paprika and melted butter.
