Tortilla soup
Ingredients/Components
- onion, chopped - 1 item
- jalapeno, minced - 1 item
- cloves garlic, minced - 2 item
- can stewed tomatoes - 1 1/2
- chicken broth - 4 c
- can tomato soup - 1 item
- cumin - 1 tsp
- chili powder - 1 tsp
- large chicken breasts, cooked and chopped - 4 item
- lemon pepper - 1/2 tsp
- salt and pepper to taste - 1 item
- Worcestershire sauce - 2 tsp
- corn tortillas, sauteed lightly - 4 item
- avocado, chopped - 1 item
- Monterey Jack cheese, grated - 1 item
- sour cream - 1 item
How to make tortilla soup:
Saute onion, jalapeno and garlic. Add all ingredients except last four and simmer for 1 hour. About 20 minutes before serving, saute tortillas and tear into bite-size pieces. Add to soup. Put avocado and cheese into individual bowls; pour soup over this. Top with a small dollop of sour cream. Serves 4 to 6 people.Recipe categories: Vegetables, Soups & stews, North american.
