Ingredients/Components
- green pepper, chopped - 1/2 item
- onion, chopped - 1 item
- can tomato soup - 1 item
- ribs celery, chopped - 3 item
- can Ro-Tel tomatoes with chilies - 1 oz
- cloves garlic, minced - 2 item
- oil - 2 Tbsp
- water - 2 c
- can tomatoes - 1 lb
- cumin - 1 tsp
- stock 2 beef and 4 chicken - 6 c
- chili powder optional - 1 tsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- sugar - 1 tsp
- Tabasco sauce
- corn tortillas, cut into small squares or strips - 6 item
- large jalapeno pepper optional - 1 item
- lemon pepper - 1/2 item
- Worcestershire sauce - 1 Tbsp
How to make tortilla soup:
Saute onions, celery, peppers and garlic in oil until soft. Add tomatoes, stock, tomato soup, Ro-tel tomatoes, water and spices. Simmer 1 1/2 hours on low heat. Ten minutes before serving, add tortilla squares. In individual soup bowls, place any of the following: chopped chicken, avocados, grated cheese, green onions and sour cream.
