Texas style chili
Ingredients/Components
- salad oil - 1/4 c
- beef stew meat - 3 lb
- cloves garlic, minced - 3 item
- chili powder - 6 Tbsp
- oregano - 2 tsp
- ground cumin - 2 tsp
- salt - 2 tsp
- red pepper sauce - 2 tsp
- water
- white cornmeal - 1/3 c
- chopped onion optional - 1 item
How to make texas style chili:
Heat oil in large kettle. Add beef and brown. Add garlic, chili powder, salt, oregano, cumin, pepper sauce and water; stir to mix well. Bring to boil; reduce heat and cover. Simmer 1 1/4 hours, stirring occasionally. Add cornmeal and mix well. Simmer uncovered 30 minutes or until meat is tender. Garnish with chopped onion, if desired.
