Swiss chicken
Ingredients/Components
- butter or margarine - 1/4 c
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- flour - 2 Tbsp
- dry white wine - 1/2 c
- fresh mushrooms, sliced - 8 oz
- 1/2-inch thick French bread slices - 6 item
- powdered mustard optional - 1 Tbsp
- 1/8-inch thick Swiss cheese slices - 6 item
- boneless chicken breast halves, skinned and dusted with flour - 6 item
- milk, chicken broth or water - 1 c
How to make swiss chicken:
Preheat oven to 325°. Arrange bread slices on a baking sheet. Place a slice of cheese on each bread slice. Place in oven to melt cheese.In a large skillet, melt butter. Add chicken pieces and cook until done. Place 1 piece cooked chicken on top of each bread slice. Keep warm.
Pour wine in pan. Add mushrooms; saute until cooked. Stir in flour, milk and salt. Cook, stirring constantly, until slightly thickened. Place chicken on bread and top chicken with mushroom sauce.
