Ingredients/Components

  • sugar
  • cornstarch - 2 Tbsp
  • egg, slightly beaten - 1 item
  • vinegar - 1/2 c
  • garlic powder - 1/8 tsp
  • ketchup - 1/2 c
  • ground beef - 1 lb
  • garlic clove, minced - 1 item
  • dry bread crumbs - 3/4 c
  • ground pork - 1/2 lb
  • chicken flavor instant bouillon - 1 tsp
  • can pineapple chunks, drained reserving liquid - 20 oz
  • small bell pepper, cut into 1/2-inch pieces - 1 item
  • pineapple liquid plus 1 c - 1 c

How to make sweet and sour meatballs:

Sauce:1 1/4 c. sugar2 Tbsp. cornstarch1 tsp. chicken flavor instant bouillon1 c. pineapple liquid plus 1 c. water1/2 c. ketchup1/2 c. vinegar1 garlic clove, minced Heat oven to 375°. Measure 1/3 cup of reserved pineapple liquid. Set remaining liquid aside.

In a large bowl, combine 1/3 cup pineapple liquid, bread crumbs and garlic powder. Blend well. Add egg, ground beef and pork. Mix well. Shape into 1-inch balls. Place on ungreased pan. Bake at 375° for 20 minutes or until browned.

In bowl, mix sugar, cornstarch and bouillon. Add remaining sauce ingredients. Cook and stir over medium heat until thickened. Add pineapple and pepper. Cook until heated. Pour over cooked meatballs and serve. Makes 72 meatballs.
