Ingredients/Components
- eggs - 1 item
- milk - 1 c
- salt
- butter - 1 item
- nutmeg - 1/8 tsp
- light cream - 1/2 c
- allspice - 1/4 tsp
- pepper - 1/8 tsp
- medium onion, finely chopped - 1 item
- dill weed - 3/4 tsp
- breadcrumbs
- can beef broth - 1 1/2
- ground chuck - 1 lb
- pork - 1/4 lb
- veal - 1/4 lb
- cardamom optional - 1/8 tsp
How to make swedish meatballs:
Mix meats. Soak breadcrumbs in milk for 5 minutes. Add meats, eggs, onions, 1 1/2 teaspoons salt, 1/4 teaspoon dill weed, allspice, nutmeg and cardamom. Mix well and refrigerate, covered, for 1 hour.Shape mixture into 1-inch balls and brown lightly in hot butter. Pour meatballs in crock cooker as they are browned. Add beef broth, pepper, light cream, pan drippings and remaining spices (1/4 teaspoon salt and 1/2 teaspoon dill weed). Cover and cook on low for 4 to 6 hours or high 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 hours.
