Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1 tsp
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • boiling water - 1/3 c
  • shortening - 1 item
  • ginger - 1/8 tsp
  • allspice - 1/8 tsp
  • egg, beaten - 1 item
  • sage - 1/4 tsp
  • soft bread crumbs - 1/3 c
  • pepper to taste - 1 item
  • chicken bouillon cube - 1 item
  • hamburg - 1 lb
  • scant flour - 1 Tbsp
  • minced onion, sauteed - 1/4 c

How to make swedish meatballs:

Dissolve bouillon cube in boiling water; pour over bread crumbs. Cover; let stand. Steam for 2 minutes. Add hamburg, egg, flour, onion and all seasonings; mix well. Make into small meatballs. Brown in small amount of shortening. Bake in covered casserole dish for 40 minutes at 325°.
