Swedish heirloom cookies
Ingredients/Components
- shortening - 1/2 c
- butter or margarine, softened - 1/2 c
- sifted powdered sugar - 1 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- all-purpose flour - 2 c
- water - 1 Tbsp
- vanilla extract - 1 Tbsp
- ground almonds
- additional powdered sugar - 1 item
How to make swedish heirloom cookies:
Beat shortening and butter at medium speed of an electric mixer until fluffy. Add 1 cup powdered sugar and salt. Mix well. Stir in flour. Add water, vanilla and almonds, stirring well. Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Place on ungreased cookie sheets and flatten. Bake at 325° for 12 to 15 minutes or until firm and lightly browned. Dredge warm cookies in additional powdered sugar.
