Mocha chip cookies
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/2 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- water
- cocoa - 3 Tbsp
- baking soda - 1/2 tsp
- shortening - 1/2 c
- large egg - 1 item
- all-purpose flour
- sifted powdered sugar - 1/2 c
- butter or margarine, softened - 1/2 c
- cream of tartar - 1/2 tsp
- instant coffee granules
- chopped pecans or walnuts - 2/3 c
- milk chocolate morsels - 1 c
How to make mocha chip cookies:
Beat shortening and butter in a large mixing bowl at medium speed of an electric mixer until fluffy. Gradually add 1/2 cup sugar and powdered sugar, beating well. Add egg, beating well. Dissolve coffee granules in water; add to creamed mixture, beating well. Combine flour and next 4 ingredients; gradually add to creamed mixture, beating well. Stir in chocolate morsels and pecans. Cover and chill 1 hour. Shape into 1/2-inch balls; roll in additional sugar. Place on lightly greased cookie sheets. Press with a fork to flatten. Bake at 350° for 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool on wire racks. Yield: 6 1/2 dozen.Recipe categories: Desserts, Drop cookies, Cookie and brownie.
