Ingredients/Components
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- granulated sugar - 3/4 c
- milk - 4 tsp
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- baking powder
- egg - 1 item
- sifted all-purpose flour - 2 c
- shortening or margarine - 2/3 c
How to make sugar cookies:
Thoroughly cream shortening or margarine, sugar and vanilla. Add egg and milk; beat until light and fluffy. Sift together dry ingredients; blend into creamed mixture. Divide dough in half. Cover and chill at least 1 hour.On lightly floured surface, roll to 1/8-inch thickness (chill other half until ready to use). Cut in desired shapes with cutters. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 375° about 8 to 10 minutes. Cool slightly; remove. Makes about 3 dozen.
