Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 3/4 c
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- milk - 4 tsp
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- baking powder
- egg - 1 item
- shortening - 2/3 c
- sifted all-purpose flour - 2 c
How to make sugar cookies:
Thoroughly cream shortening, sugar and vanilla. Add egg; beat until light and fluffy. Stir in milk. Sift together dry ingredients; blend into creamed mixture. Divide dough in half. Chill 1 hour.On lightly floured surface, roll one half of dough to 1/8-inch thickness. Cut in desired shapes with cutters. Bake on greased cookie sheet at 375° about 6 to 8 minutes. Cool slightly; remove from pan. Makes 2 dozen.
Chill other half of dough until ready to use.
