Sugar cookies

Ingredients/Components

• sugar - 3/4 c
• vanilla - 1 tsp
• milk - 1/4 c
• flour - 2 c
• baking powder - 1/2 tsp
• egg - 1 item
• shortening - 2/3 c
• grated orange peel - 1/2 tsp

How to make sugar cookies:

Cream shortening, sugar and vanilla; add egg. Beat until light and fluffy. Stir in milk. Sift dry ingredients; blend in mixture. Chill one hour. On lightly floured surface, roll 1/8-inch thick. Cut in desired shapes. Bake at 375° for 6 to 8 minutes. Cool. Makes 2 dozen.
