Ingredients/Components

  • butter - 3 Tbsp
  • small onion, chopped - 1 item
  • salt and freshly ground pepper to taste - 1 item
  • large mushrooms - 12 item
  • crumbled cooked bacon - 1/2 c
  • fine, soft breadcrumbs - 1 c
  • cream or sherry approximately - 2 Tbsp
  • marjoram, rosemary and oregano to taste - 1 item

How to make stuffed mushrooms:

Remove and chop mushroom stems. In a skillet, heat 1 tablespoon butter and add onion and chopped stems. Cook 2 minutes. Add crumbs, bacon, seasonings and enough cream or sherry to moisten. Place mushroom caps on baking sheet, cap side up, and brush with some of the melted remaining butter. Broil about 2 minutes. Turn over; stuff with filling and brush with butter again and broil about 3 or 4 minutes.
