Spicy chili sauce
Ingredients/Components
- peeled, cored, chopped, red, ripe tomatoes about 24 large - 4 qt
- chopped sweet green peppers about 3 medium
- chopped onions - 2 c
- vinegar - 1 1
- sugar
- salt - 1 Tbsp
- celery seed - 1 Tbsp
- ground ginger - 1 tsp
- ground cinnamon - 1 tsp
- ground allspice - 1 tsp
- ground cloves - 1 tsp
How to make spicy chili sauce:
Combine all ingredients. Bring to boiling; simmer until thick as wanted, about 1 to 2 hours. Stir frequently to prevent sticking. Pour, boiling hot, into hot jars, leaving 1/8-inch headspace. Adjust caps. Process in hot water bath 15 minutes. Yields about 8 pints.Note: Chili sauce is not a bright red color, because ground spices are used.
For a meal, add cooked hamburger and kidney beans.
