  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • brown sugar - 1 c
  • butter - 1/4 c
  • eggs, beaten - 3 item
  • pecan halves
  • dark Karo syrup - 1 c
  • 9-inch unbaked pie shell crust - 1 item

How to make southern pecan pie:

Cream butter and sugar together until fluffy and add next 4 ingredients. Sprinkle pecans on bottom of pie shell. Pour filling over pecans. Bake at 450° for 10 minutes. Reduce temperature to 350° and bake 45 minutes longer (outer edge of filling should be set and center slightly soft) or until knife inserted in center comes out clean.
