  • granulated sugar

  • packed brown sugar
  • vanilla extract - 2 tsp
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • water - 1/3 c
  • baking powder - 1 tsp
  • baking soda
  • all-purpose flour - 5 c
  • molasses - 2 Tbsp
  • 4 sticks butter, softened - 1 lb

How to make soft batch chocolate chip cookies:

Preheat oven to 375°. Cream butter, eggs, molasses, vanilla and water in a medium size bowl. In a large bowl, sift together the sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt and flour. Combine the moist mixture with the dry mixture. Add the chocolate chips. Shape the dough into 1 inch balls, and place them 1 inch apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 8 minutes or until light brown around edges. Yields 4 dozen.
