Slow-cooked pepper steak
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 tsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- cornstarch - 1 Tbsp
- cold water - 1/2 c
- Crisco oil - 2 Tbsp
- ground ginger - 1/4 tsp
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- chopped onion - 1 c
- soy sauce - 1/4 c
- garlic clove, minced - 1 item
- cooked noodles or rice - 1 item
- beef round steak
- large green peppers, cut in strips - 2 item
- medium tomatoes, cut in eighths or 1 can tomatoes with liquid - 4 item
How to make slow-cooked pepper steak:
Cut beef into 3 x 1-inch strips. Brown in oil in skillet. Transfer to slow cooker.Combine next 7 ingredients. Pour over beef. Cover and cook on low for 5 to 6 hours. Add tomatoes and green peppers. Cook on low for another hour.
Combine water and cornstarch and stir into liquid in slow cooker and cook on high until thickened. Serve over noodles or rice. Yields 6 to 8 servings.
