  • pkg - 1 oz
  • salt - 2 tsp
  • can chow mein noodles - 1 oz
  • salad oil - 1 Tbsp
  • pepper - 1/2 tsp
  • clove garlic, minced - 1 item
  • chopped onion - 1 c
  • soy sauce - 2 Tbsp
  • ground beef
  • cooked rice - 2 c
  • celery slices - 2 c
  • condensed cream of mushroom soup - 1 c

How to make shanghai casserole:

Brown meat in hot oil. Add onion, garlic and celery; cook until tender. Stir in soup, thawed vegetable, rice and seasoning. Turn into greased 2 1/2 quart casserole. Cover and bake in moderate oven at 350° for 25 minutes. Uncover and sprinkle with chow mein noodles; return to oven for about 5 minutes. Makes 6 to 8 servings.
