Ingredients/Components
- flour - 2 c
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- sugar heaping - 2 Tbsp
- butter or bacon fat - 2 Tbsp
- egg, beaten - 1 item
- buttermilk - 1 item
How to make scottish scones:
Mix dry ingredients and butter (or bacon fat) until crumbly. Add beaten egg and enough buttermilk to make gooey biscuit dough. Pat 1/2-inch thick on well floured board; cut with knife or biscuit cutter. Cook on low on heated griddle; turn when slightly browned. Or bake on cookie sheet at 350° until light brown.
