Sausage jambalaya
Ingredients/Components
- water - 4 c
- shortening - 1 Tbsp
- chopped onion - 1 c
- chopped celery - 1/2 c
- salt and pepper - 1 item
- chopped green onions - 1 c
- chopped bell pepper - 1/2 c
- raw rice - 3 c
- sausage, cut in small pieces - 3 lb
- tomato paste or 1/2 can tomato sauce - 2 Tbsp
How to make sausage jambalaya:
Heat shortening; add onions, celery, peppers, and tomato sauce. Cook over medium heat in uncovered pot until onions are wilted. Cover and cook 15 minutes. Add sausage and green onions; cook 30 minutes. Add rice and water; cover and simmer until rice is done.Recipe categories: Main dish, Pasta, rice and grains, Rice.
