Ingredients/Components
- boiling water - 1/2 c
- fresh ground pepper - 1 item
- shredded cabbage - 4 c
- bacon fat - 1 Tbsp
- or 4 potatoes in 1/2 inch slices - 3 item
- kielbasa, sliced in serving chunks or Italian sausage - 1/2 1
How to make sausage casserole:
Melt bacon fat in a large skillet. Add cabbage. Top with sliced potatoes. Lay sausage on top; sprinkle with pepper. Pour on boiling water. Cover tightly and simmer over lowest heat for 50 to 60 minutes. Add extra water if needed. Serve with brown bread. Serves 4.Recipe categories: Main dish, Casseroles, Pork.
