Ingredients/Components

  • brown sugar - 1/4 c
  • honey - 4 Tbsp
  • ground cloves - 1/4 tsp
  • bacon - 3 lb
  • cans water chestnuts - 3 item
  • small bottle barbecue sauce - 1 item
  • small bottle sweet and sour sauce - 1 item

How to make rumaki:

You will also need 2 boxes of round toothpicks.

Cut bacon strips in half. If large, cut water chestnuts in half. Wrap bacon around water chestnuts and secure with toothpick. Broil until bacon is cooked. Turn over and do other side; set aside. Combine other ingredients in a large saucepan. Cook over medium heat until thickened. Pour over Rumaki, coating all. Reserve some sauce for dunking. Rewarm in 200° oven until sauce is very lightly browned. Do not burn.

This can be made a day or two in advance and sauce can be added just before rewarming. Be careful with the toothpicks. It hurts when you stab yourself! Enjoy!
