Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 4 c
- salt - 3 Tbsp
- vinegar - 2 c
- alum - 1/2 tsp
- celery seed - 1 tsp
- turmeric - 1 tsp
- sliced cucumbers - 16 c
- sliced onions - 4 c
- Ice - 1 item
How to make refrigerator pickles:
Slice cucumbers & onions. Cover with salt & ice. Let stand 3 hours. Drain & put in gallon jar. Dissolve sugar, vinegar, celery seed, turmeric & alum. Pour over cucumbers & onion & put in refrigerator. They are ready to eat in 7-10 days. Can be kept in refrigerator for a long time.
