Ingredients/Components

  • soda - 1 tsp
  • buttermilk - 2 c
  • self-rising flour - 5 c
  • Crisco - 1 c
  • warm water - 1/4 c
  • dry yeast - 1 pkg

How to make refrigerator biscuits:

Dissolve the yeast in warm water and set aside. Mix the other ingredients and add to the yeast mixture. Knead on a floured board until smooth.

You can make some biscuits now and store the rest of the mixture in a plastic bag in the refrigerator. No rising is required before baking. The longer the mixture stays in the refrigerator, the better the biscuit. Bake at 400° until done.

Make very small biscuits because they will double in size while baking.
