Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- eggs - 2 item
- milk - 3/4 c
- vanilla extract - 1 tsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- coconut - 1 c
- oil - 3/4 c
- cocoa - 1 Tbsp
- confectioners sugar - 1 lb
- buttermilk - 1 c
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- vinegar - 1 tsp
- all-purpose flour - 2 c
- margarine - 1/2 c
- bottle red food coloring - 1 oz
- In another bowl, cream oil and 1 1/2 cups sugar
- to 5 drops red food coloring - 4 item
How to make red velvet cake:
Sift flour, baking powder, salt and cocoa in bowl. In another bowl, cream oil and 1 1/2 cups sugar. Add eggs, one at a time. Mix well. Combine buttermilk and soda. Mix well. Add to oil-sugar mixture alternately with dry ingredients. Add vinegar and vanilla. Mix well. Spoon into two greased 9-inch round pans. Preheat oven to 350°. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes. Combine milk and remaining sugar in saucepan. Bring to a boil. Spoon evenly on each layer. Cool and frost.Frosting:1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese1/2 c. margarine1 tsp. vanilla extract1 lb. confectioners sugar1 c. coconut4 to 5 drops red food coloring Combine cream cheese, margarine and vanilla in mixing bowl. Beat until smooth. Gradually add sugar while beating. Add 3/4 cup coconut. Mix well.
