  • cake flour
  • sugar - 2 c
  • eggs - 2 item
  • Wesson oil - 1 c
  • buttermilk - 1 c
  • red food coloring
  • vinegar - 1 tsp
  • cocoa - 2 tsp
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • vanilla extract - 1 Tbsp
  • Add eggs and beat
  • pkg - 1 oz
  • box confectioners sugar - 1 item
  • vanilla - 1 Tbsp
  • chopped nuts - 1 c

How to make red velvet cake:

Cream together Wesson oil and sugar. Add eggs and beat. Mix cocoa, food coloring and vanilla; add vinegar together. Combine these; add flour that has been sifted with salt and soda alternately with buttermilk to mixture. Bake at 350° in 3 cake pans that have been greased and dusted with flour. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes. Remove and cool on cake racks and ice.Icing:1 stick regular margarine1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese1 box confectioners sugar1 Tbsp. vanilla1 c. chopped nuts Mix together margarine, cream cheese, sugar and vanilla. Top with nuts. This will ice 3 layers. Spread thinly on tops and sides of cake.
