- eggs - 2 item
- packed brown sugar - 1 c
- milk - 1/4 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- baking powder - 2 tsp
- baking soda - 1/4 tsp
- shortening - 1/3 c
- all-purpose flour - 2 c
- canned pumpkin - 1 c
- raisins optional - 1/2 c
- ground cloves - 1/4 tsp
- ground ginger - 1/2 tsp
- coarsely chopped nuts walnuts or pecans - 1/2 c
How to make pumpkin bread:
In mixing bowl, cream together brown sugar and shortening until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs. Add pumpkin and milk; mix well. Stir together flour, baking powder, salt, ginger, baking soda and cloves; add to creamed mixture, mixing well. Stir in nuts and raisins. Turn into greased 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan. Bake at 350° for 55 to 60 minutes or until done. Cool 10 minutes. Remove from pan; cool. Wrap and store overnight before slicing. Makes 1 loaf.Recipe categories: Breads, Quick breads, Vegetables.
