Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 c
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- eggs - 3 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- nutmeg - 1 tsp
- soda - 1 tsp
- buttermilk - 1 c
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- stick butter - 1 item
- plain flour
- cloves - 1 tsp
- allspice - 1 tsp
- Karo syrup - 2 Tbsp
- Wesson oil - 1 c
- pecans, chopped - 1 c
- prunes, cooked - 1 c
How to make prune cake:
Glaze:1/2 c. buttermilk1/2 tsp. soda2 Tbsp. Karo syrup1 tsp. vanilla1 stick butter1 c. pecans, chopped1 1/2 c. sugar Mix all spices, soda, salt and baking powder with flour. In mixing bowl, combine sugar and oil. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well. Add prunes. Add buttermilk and flour mixture alternately. Add vanilla last. Bake 35 to 40 minutes at 350° or until done. Bake in two Pyrex dishes (one long and one short). Pour glaze over cake while hot which has been poked with holes.Glaze: Cook butter, sugar, soda, buttermilk and syrup until thick or soft ball stage. Add vanilla. Then add pecans. Pour over cake.
