Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- eggs - 3 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 2 c
- stick margarine - 1 item
- nutmeg - 1 tsp
- soda - 1 tsp
- buttermilk - 1 c
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- baking soda - 1/2 tsp
- allspice - 1 tsp
- Karo syrup - 1 Tbsp
- Wesson oil - 1 c
- nut meats - 1 c
- cooked diced prunes - 1 c
How to make prune cake:
Icing:1 c. sugar1 Tbsp. Karo syrup1 stick margarine1/2 tsp. vanilla1/2 c. buttermilk1/2 tsp. baking soda Mix and bake cake. Cook icing only until it forms a soft ball in cold water. Cook over medium flame for about 8 minutes or 10 minutes, stirring almost constantly. Pour immediately over hot prune cake so icing will melt down into cake. Top servings with whipped cream. Also may stir in 1/4 cup medium dry sherry and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla.Recipe categories: Desserts, Cakes, Fruit.
