  • sugar - 2 c
  • eggs - 6 item
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • vanilla flavoring - 1 tsp
  • shortening - 1 c
  • plain flour - 2 c
  • lemon juice - 3 Tbsp

How to make pound cake:

Preheat oven to 325°. Cream together sugar and shortening. Add eggs, one at a time, beat well. Add flour, one tablespoon at a time. Beat well. Beat in salt, lemon juice and vanilla flavoring; beat well.

Pour into a greased and floured pan. Lightly tap pan on countertop to settle batter. Bake at 325° for approximately 90 minutes or until golden brown (cook time varies by oven).
