Potato chowder
Ingredients/Components
- milk - 2 c
- salt
- flour - 2 Tbsp
- boiling water - 2 c
- paprika - 1/4 tsp
- pepper - 1/8 tsp
- chopped onion - 1/2 c
- sage - 1/4 tsp
- fresh parsley - 1 item
- diced potatoes - 2 3
- bacon - 1/4 lb
- sliced fresh carrots - 1 c
How to make potato chowder:
Cook bacon in large skillet until crisp. Remove, drain and crumble. Saute onion and carrots in fat. Drain all but enough fat to make a smooth mixture with 2 tablespoons flour. Add flour, stir and cook for a few minutes until browned. Add potatoes, water and seasonings. Simmer until potatoes are tender. Add milk. Reheat until hot. Mash with potato masher if desired. Sprinkle bacon bits on top and garnish with parsley. Serves 6.Recipe categories: Potato, Soups & stews, Chowders.
