Cheese chowder
Ingredients/Components
- milk - 2 c
- salt
- flour - 1/2 c
- boiling water - 2 c
- margarine - 1/2 c
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- chopped onion - 1/4 c
- sliced carrots - 1/2 c
- sliced celery - 1/2 c
- diced potatoes - 2 c
- sharp Cheddar cheese - 8 oz
How to make cheese chowder:
Add boiling water to vegetables, salt and pepper. Cover and simmer 10 to 15 minutes until just tender. Do not drain. Make white sauce with margarine, flour and milk. Add cheese. Stir to melt cheese. Add vegetables and liquid they were cooked in. Heat well. Do not boil. Serves 6 to 8.Recipe categories: Soups & stews, Chicken, Chowders.
