Ingredients/Components
- granulated sugar - 1/4 c
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- brown sugar - 1/2 c
- egg, slightly beaten - 1 item
- all-purpose flour
- powdered sugar - 1 item
- allspice - 1/2 tsp
- ground cloves - 1/2 tsp
- ground cinnamon - 1 tsp
- black pepper - 1/4 tsp
- chopped almonds - 1 c
- soft butter or margarine - 1/2 c
- anise flavoring - 1/4 tsp
- chopped citron - 1/2 c
- cardamon - 1/4 tsp
How to make pfeffernuesse:
Cream the butter, anise flavoring and sugars. Blend in egg. Add flour, salt and spices. Blend thoroughly. Stir in chopped almonds and citron. Chill in refrigerator a few hours. Shape dough into 1-inch balls using about a teaspoon of dough for each. Place on ungreased cookie sheet and bake in a 350° oven for about 10 minutes. Remove from oven and cool a few minutes.
