Pear relish
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 4 c
- cinnamon - 2 tsp
- salt
- cloves - 2 tsp
- allspice - 6 tsp
- dry mustard - 3 Tbsp
- white vinegar - 2 qt
- turmeric - 2 Tbsp
- red bell peppers, chopped - 2 item
- chopped bell peppers - 8 item
- ground onion - 8 c
- hot red peppers - 2 item
- ground pears - 1 gal
How to make pear relish:
Mix ingredients in order given. Cook over low heat until thick. Seal in hot jars; store in dark place.One-half of plain flour, mixed with some of the saved pear juice, can be used to make a thin paste. Stir this into the mixture after it is done; this cuts down on cooking time. In either case, make sure the relish is thick.
