Peanut brittle
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 c
- vanilla
- butter
- water - 1/2 c
- soda - 2 tsp
- raw peanuts - 2 c
- white corn syrup - 1 c
How to make peanut brittle:
Place the first 3 ingredients in a heavy skillet and cook slowly to the thread stage at 230°. Add peanuts. Stir and cook these ingredients just beyond the hard crack stage, 301° to 302°. Remove from heat. Stir in the butter, soda and vanilla until blended. Pour the brittle onto a greased surface. Turn it at once and stretch until thin.
