Ingredients/Components
- grated Parmesan cheese - 1 item
- salt and pepper - 1 item
- olive oil - 3 Tbsp
- medium onion, chopped - 1/2 item
- water or chicken broth - 2 c
- can whole tomatoes, crushed - 1/2 item
- to 3 cloves garlic, chopped fine - 2 item
- short pasta ditalini - 1/3 lb
- beans 1/2 pureed, 1/2 whole*
- to 4 slices bacon, cut into matchsticks - 3 item
- parsley and basil - 1 item
How to make pasta e fagioli:
*Use beans such as cannellini or pinto. Lightly brown bacon in olive oil. Remove from pan. Brown garlic, parsley and onion in remaining olive oil. Add crushed tomatoes; cook for 10 minutes.
