Orange spiced scones
Ingredients/Components
- butter, softened
- sugar - 3 Tbsp
- half and half - 4 6
- butter - 1/3 c
- egg, slightly beaten - 1 item
- baking powder
- all-purpose flour
- raisins - 1/2 c
- grated orange peel - 2 tsp
- orange marmalade - 2 Tbsp
How to make orange spiced scones:
Orange Butter:1/2 c. butter, softened2 Tbsp. orange marmalade Heat oven to 400°. In a medium bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder and orange peel. Cut 1/3 cup butter into flour mixture until it resembles fine crumbs. Stir in raisins, 1 egg and just enough half and half so dough leaves sides of bowl.Turn dough onto lightly floured surface; knead lightly 10 times. Roll into 9-inch circle. Cut into 12 wedges. Place on cookie sheet. Brush with beaten egg. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown. Immediately remove from cookie sheet.
Orange Butter: In a small bowl, stir together Orange Butter ingredients. Serve with scones.
Yields 12 scones, 1/2 cup Orange Butter.
