Old fashioned pot roast
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- cornstarch - 1 tsp
- water - 3 Tbsp
- allspice - 1/2 tsp
- paprika - 1 tsp
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- bay leaves - 3 item
- beef broth - 1 c
- medium potatoes, peeled and quartered - 3 item
- boneless beef rump roast - 3 lb
- medium onions, peeled and quartered - 3 item
- large carrots, peeled and cut in half - 4 item
How to make old fashioned pot roast:
Cook at 325°. Trim excess fat. Place in 4-quart Dutch oven or casserole; sprinkle with salt and pepper. Add onions, broth, paprika, allspice and bay leaves. Cover; bake for 2 hours. Add carrots and potatoes. Bake 45 to 60 minutes longer, until vegetables are tender. Remove bay leaves. In small bowl combine cornstarch and water. Stir into hot liquid.
