butter or margarine - 1 c
salt - 1 tsp
flour
brown sugar - 1 c
butter - 5 Tbsp
coconut - 1 c
baking soda - 1 tsp
boiling water
white sugar - 1 c
quick oats - 1 c
Add sugars, butter and eggs, beating well after each addition

How to make oatmeal cake:

Mix oatmeal with boiling water; let stand 20 minutes. Add sugars, butter and eggs, beating well after each addition. Add sifted dry ingredients to mixture, beating well. Bake at 350° for 30 minutes.Icing:1 c. nuts1/2 c. brown sugar5 Tbsp. butter1/2 c. milk1 c. coconut1 tsp. vanilla Mix brown sugar, butter and milk over low heat until dissolved. Add nuts, coconut and vanilla, mixing thoroughly. Pour over hot cake. Bake in moderate oven 5 to 8 minutes.
