  • cinnamon - 1/2 tsp
  • eggs - 2 item
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • brown sugar - 1 c
  • coconut - 1 c
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • boiling water
  • shortening - 1/2 c
  • sifted flour
  • nuts, chopped - 1 c
  • white sugar - 1 c
  • quick oatmeal - 1 c
  • cream or evaporated milk - 1/4 c
  • Cream the sugar, shortening and eggs

How to make oatmeal cake:

Pour boiling water over oatmeal and let stand. Cream the sugar, shortening and eggs. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with oatmeal. Bake in a 9 x 13-inch greased pan at 350° for 40 minutes. Topping to be spread on hot cake and set under broil
