- eggs - 2 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- brown sugar - 1 c
- butter - 1/2 c
- nutmeg - 1/2 tsp
- soda - 1 tsp
- boiling water
- all-purpose flour
- nuts optional - 1 c
- white sugar - 1 c
- quick oatmeal - 1 c
- flake coconut - 1 c
- whole egg - 1 item
- Topping:1 stick margarine, melted
How to make oatmeal cake:
Topping:1 stick margarine, melted1 c. brown sugar1 c. nuts (optional)1 whole egg1 c. flake coconut Pour boiling water over the oatmeal and let stand. Cream the butter and sugars. Add eggs and blend thoroughly. Sift together the dry ingredients. Add oatmeal mixture and vanilla; blend. Bake in greased sheet cake pan at 350° for 25 minutes.Mix the topping ingredients. Spread on cake and return to oven until coconut is toasted. Check closely.
