Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 c
- cream cheese
- vanilla - 1 Tbsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour - 2 c
- stick margarine - 1 item
- eggs, separated - 5 item
- coconut - 2 c
- soda - 1 tsp
- buttermilk - 1 c
- powdered sugar
- Crisco - 1/2 c
- pecans - 1 c
How to make italian cream cake:
Icing:11 oz. cream cheese1 1/2 Tbsp. vanilla3/4 stick margarine1 1/2 c. powdered sugar Beat the egg whites and set aside. Cream together the sugar, margarine, Crisco and vanilla. Add the egg yolks, one at a time. Sift together the flour, soda and salt. Add alternately with buttermilk to the creamed mixture. Add the coconut and pecans. Fold in the egg whites. Pour into three 8-inch layers in well-greased and floured pans. Bake at 350° for 25 minutes.Icing: Mix all ingredients together and spread on cake.
