  • salt - 1/2 Tbsp
  • butter - 1/2 Tbsp
  • molasses - 3 Tbsp
  • honey - 2 Tbsp
  • sesame seed - 1 Tbsp
  • whole wheat flour - 5 c
  • wheat germ - 1/3 c
  • dry yeast - 4 Tbsp
  • lukewarm water - 2/3 c

How to make no knead bread:

Sprinkle yeast over 2/3 cup lukewarm water. Add the honey. Leave to "work" while preparing the dough.

Warm the wheat flour by placing it in a 250° oven for about 20 minutes. Combine molasses with 2/3 cup lukewarm water. Combine yeast mixture with molasses mixture. Stir this into warmed flour, then add salt and wheat germ. Finally, add the 1 1/2 cups lukewarm water. The dough will be sticky. Butter a loaf pan (9 x 5 1/2 x 2 3/4-inch), taking care to grease the corners of the pan. Turn dough into pan. Smooth with spatula which has been held under cold water to prevent stickiness. Sprinkle sesame seed over top of loaf. Leave to rise to top of pan in warm, draft-free place.

Preheat oven to 400°. Bake in preheated oven for 30 to 40 minutes, or until crust is brown and sides are firm and crusty. Set pan on rack to cool for about 10 minutes, then remove loaf from pan and cool completely on rack before slicing.
