  • cinnamon - 2 tsp
  • butter - 1/2 c
  • eggs, separated - 5 item
  • nutmeg - 1 tsp
  • soda - 1/2 tsp
  • buttermilk - 1 c
  • baking powder - 2 tsp
  • all-purpose flour - 3 c
  • raisins - 1 c
  • nuts, chopped - 1 c
  • cloves - 1/4 tsp
  • blackberry jam - 1 c
  • other shortening - 1/2 c
  • sugar substitute 3/4 c - 2 c

How to make molasses jam cake:

Preheat oven to 350°. Cream together butter, shortening and sugar and add molasses and jam. Separate eggs. Beat yolks into butter mixture. Sift dry ingredients and add with milk. Beat egg whites until forms firm peaks and fold into batter.

Add nuts and raisins. (Roll raisins and nuts in some of the flour before adding to batter.) Grease and flour two 9-inch cake pans and bake in preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes.
